Big Apple Dog School offers a wide array of classes and workshops designed to improve the behavior of New York City dogs and to fix common problems faced by owners. Whether it’s Puppy I for a 10-18 week old pup or modifying the behavior of an older reactive dog, we have a curriculum for you.

All classes except for Off-Leash Class are taught year-round at D Is For Doggy in Chelsea (156 W. 22nd Street, between 6th/7th Aves). Off-Leash Class is taught in Central Park.

Classes are small, with no more than six dogs. For all dogs attending group classes, we need written notification from your veterinarian that all vaccinations are up to date. For puppies, the second shot in the series is required. This must be made available to us at the time of the first session.

Fundamental Training

• Puppy Track 1 (For puppies 10–18 weeks old; no prerequisite)
• Puppy Track 2 (For puppies up to 12 months old; prerequisite: Puppy I or by interview)
• Basic Obedience (Adolescent/Adult 6 months and older; no prerequisite)
• Advanced Obedience (prerequisite: Basic Obedience)

Specialized Classes

• Off Leash (prerequisite: Puppy II or Advanced Obedience)
• At Ease Around Strangers (prerequisite: Basic Obedience)
• Preparing For a New Baby (No prerequisite)
• Stop Barking at Other Dogs (Requires an in-person interview with our trainers)
• Kids as Trainers (Dog must be child-friendly and know Sit command)
• Tricks (prerequisite: Puppy II or Basic Obedience)
• Disco Dog (prerequisite: Puppy II or Advanced Obedience)
